Off to Texas!

We leave for Texas tomorrow (wed) for the Luedecke Christmas. The family has not seen Craven since he was 7 months, so it will be quite a difference.
We only get a chance to see them every other Christmas. We've tried to get to Texas before now, but if we go on any type of trip we just can't go there too!

Craven has started a new thing or word if you will. If you ask him something that requires a yes answer he has started saying "Yea-aah" with a heavy southern accent. I don't know how I feel about it yet, so I correct him and say no it's "Yes".

Just some random things to catch up....

It has once again been forever since I posted anything. Now I am lost to a lot of funny things Craven has said, done, gotten into etc. So I will give some brief highlights of things I can remember in the last several months.

I do not think Craven is lacking in anything, but I do feel sad that I have not gotten Craven a tricycle which most kid's get when they are 18 months and use until they are 3 years old. Now that he is 2 1/2 if I get him a tricycle he will only use it for a short time before he wants a big bike (which he likes to try and ride now). I also wish I would have gotten him a ride on John Deer tractor, he likes to ride Annabell's and anyone else who has one, but he is just about to big for it now. Oh Well, it wont be the last time I will have wished that I gotten him something before he is too big for it.

Things that Ella (our dog) has taught Craven......
How to sleep in a kennel
How to drink out of a water bowel and the pond
How to chase after a frisbe and bring it back in his mouth (very funny)
How to lick and eat things off the floor with his mouth not his hands
How to pee pee and yes, even poop out side (yuck)

Things he learned how to do for Ella.....
Feed her , but not let her get his food (most of the time)
Throw sticks for her
Let her inside and out
Put her in her kennel and shut the door, but he can't lock it yet
Tell her "No Ella" or "Stay Ella" or "Ella, Hush"
Drag her by the collar when he wants her to do something (verry cute)
Knock over her water bowel or sit in it (when he was little) every time its filled

Fourth of July..... We went to the Smyrna Town Fireworks and met Sarah, Justin, Allie and Madison. Craven was a little scared of the fireworks at first, then he liked them. He kept saying "Look, Colors" when they would go off.
On the fourth we had friends and family over for a BBQ and sparklers. Craven did not like the sparklers. Maybe next year.

July 14Th we went to the blueberry patch with Grammy. Met Aunt Carolyn, cousin Annabelle and Addison, also Cerae and her kids. Even though there was not many blueberries left to pick they had a blast.

At 22 months on July 18Th Craven pooped in the potty (first time) with out being told. Very Nice! Still doing it but very randomly. Good for a while then not. Oh Well, Hopefully by the time he's in collage. LOL
He's had the peeing down, it's just if he wants to do it or not is the question. Ugh!

October is the pumpkin patch, always fun. We had our annual play group Halloween party at our house. Craven has named Skeleton's "Trasher" Came up with it on his own, don't know why.

Went to Washington DC for the Marine Marathon 2009. Stayed with Craig and Ian for a couple of days, then stayed with Troy for a couple of days. Had a great time. Craven loved the Zoo and Space Museum. Can't wait to go back. Beautiful place.

We went trick or treating in our neighborhood with.....Sarah, Justin, Justin's Dad, Allie, Madison, Mandy, Chris, Brenden, Evan, Presley, Lisa, Travis, Matthew, Mark, Mindy, and Savannah.

Quiet a group. They had fun, but it was very cold and they did not get to go to many house this year.

Went to Carolyn's for her 40Th birthday party. Happy 40Th Aunt Carolyn!!!

Randall made smoked ribs and Craven ate his first meat after 26 months of just peanut butter and occasional chicken for his protein. It would figure that his first meat would be BBQ. LOL
Few days later ate bite of a hot dog and since has eaten more.

Went to Addison's 1st Birthday. Happy 1st Addison!!! Had a blast playing with Annabelle.

Thanksgiving 2009 with Grammy, Papa, Aunt Carolyn, Uncle John, Uncle Kurt, Aunt Sharon, Cousins Annabell, Addison, Nathan, and Caroline.

Dec 8Th went and decorated Gingerbread houses. Very fun! Craven did a very good job and loved eating the icing!

Ruppel Family Christmas Dec 12Th 2009. Went to Uncle Kurt's and Aunt Sharon's cabin in Pigeon Forge. Stay in Eric's cabin. Lots of food, drinks and gifts. Thanks to all!!!!!!

Catching up

Let me just say that it is not easy posting when things happen and then it gets further and further away from the last post. Anyway, I will try to do a little random catching up.

Memorial week! We were going to go camping for a couple of nights and see how it went. Well, Kurt called and asked if we wanted to stay at their cabin and guess what? The cabin won. We went up on Memorial day and stayed until Wed. Craven is still not the best rider, but he is getting better and we had the DVD player (thank you Carolyn & John) which helped a lot. He just fussed the last hour. We got to the cabin and unpacked and made a grocery list. Randall left for the store and I had Craven on the upper deck playing. He went in and I was a little slower to do so. By the time I came in he was no longer up stair with me. I started calling him and went to the second level and the front door was wide open. Panic! As I was running to it Randall is bringing Craven back in. Randall had not left yet, he was sitting in the car playing with the GPS system and looked up and saw Craven standing next to the car. We thought he just did not lock the door before he left. I took Craven in and made sure the door was locked and went back up stair with him. We played for a little while outside on the deck with his cars and his ball. We came back in and Craven ran down stairs. He liked going up and down all the stairs and he definitely needed some exercise. I did not hear anything and started calling Cravens name as I was walking down stairs. I thought he was probably at the bottom floor. Guess again, the door was wide open again! I ran to the door and started yelling for him and he was nowhere. I started to panic thinking do I go up the road or down the road when I heard him call me. He was down the side of the cabin. He was playing with his ball and it must have went down there and he went to get it and got stuck. He was barefooted and there were stickers on the ground. After that time we did not leave him alone on the second floor. The next day we went to cades cove and hiked a little. Craven loved it. Randall saw his first bear (he has never seen one here). It was far away so Craven could not really see it. Then we went and picked up BBQ and went to the little park behind Kroger's. On the last day we went to the Aquarium and Craven liked that too. We left from there to come back home. We stopped for lunch and took it to a near by park (GPS found) to eat and let Craven play some. Before we got to the park Craven was getting really cranky so I gave him some chocolate. Well, when we got to the park and went to get him out he was covered in chocolate. It was very funny, but a lot of mess. Thank you Kurt & Sharon for letting us stay!!!!

Poopy Mess! I was doing the dishes and Craven went outside in just a diaper and was playing on the deck. I could see him from the window as I was cleaning. I look up and I see him taking out a wet wipe. I leave a pack outside sometime b/c I always need one. I went back to cleaning I look up again and he is laying on the deck, wet wipe in one hand trying to stick it down his diaper and I guess clean himself. I laughed and went back to cleaning. The next and last time I look up and he has his diaper off and has a wad of wet wipes and is trying to clean his poopy butt. It was very funny and gross at the same time. I dropped what I was doing and ran out to help him. He has some similar things since.

Pee Pee in the potty! Not so much. When he was younger he was good about peeing in the potty. I did not act on it and now he's not as interested.

I have been trying a little more only b/c he keeps taking off his clothes and diaper. I do believe he is a little confused b/c he will sit on his potty chair and then stand and pee in front of it. Randall has tried to show him hows its done, but he stands up, hence the issues. I have been taking him and standing him on his stool in front of the big potty and singing him a little pee pee song. Now he will sing it too. Very cute, but he still wont go in it. He would rather pee outside in the grass or on the deck.

Sleeping! He does naps pretty well, but usually goes to sleep either in the car or the swing out side unless he is so tired he just passes out. Nighttime ... yes he still does not sleep through the night. He is getting better though. Melatonin does not help. It makes him very cranky before he passes out. Then he wakes up even more times a night screaming.
He still sleeps with me. On the one hand its a pain, but on the other hand I would miss some very cute things he does and says. When we get into bed he use to grab my face with both hands and kiss me "Nite, nite mommy". Now he wants to lay his head in the crook of my arm. He likes to play little games. Ear, nose, mouth, eyes, but he usually points at the eyes and says nose and laughs. He will count to ten and skip one or two numbers. He will say his ABC, which is pretty funny to hear. He will start talking to me "Mommy" and then tell me something that I may or may not understand. He sometimes wakes up and starts talking to me the same way and I'm like you should be a sleep and he says " um well" laughs and goes back to sleep. I would like to sleep again sometime, but I am very glad that I have not missed this.

2 year check up! Craven is 35.5% in weight and 68% in height. Everything seems to be on tract. He has had no side affects from having his surgery. He is eating better too, believe it or not.

Farm! We went to a dairy farm with the play group. Sever storms where coming but suppose to stop really quickly We all decided to wait on the porch of the dairy until the storm passed. Once passed another bit of rain was going to hit, but we thought the tour would be over before it came. I took the wagon so Craven and another little boy (Marc who is beginning to walk) could ride in it. Craven did not want to get out. He got out to feed the cows, well throw food at them anyway and jump back into the wagon. Too funny! The rain came again while on tour and we stayed in one of the buildings and they brought us samples of milk and butter. When the rain stopped we all headed back to the cars and another cloud opened up on us and we where loading cars in the down pour. Wet, a little messy but no worse for wear. We had a great time!

Thats all I can think of for now.

Saturday

Last night Craven went to sleep around 10:45 and guess what, he slept all night. Randall said he had to wake him up around 9:30 this am. Bad news is he fell a sleep at 10 to 7:00 tonight and he will not stay a sleep. Ugh! I step forward one and a step a gazillion back.
Craven found Randall's spray water bottle (for the grill) on the porch and would turn it on himself and spray. He thought it was soo funny and it was to watch. We videoed it.
I worked today and Randall kept Craven. When I got home Randall left to run. I was cleaning the laundry room and I got some disinfectant wipes out form under the cabinet and left the door open for two seconds. Craven of course takes it upon himself to get out the Clorox clean up and 409 spray. He spayed himself with the bleach and was on the verge of doing the same with the 409 when I caught him. Ugh again! I striped him down and washed him off and put new clothes on him. The shirt had to be thrown out and the shorts should be too, but I kept them. That is the third shirt this week that I had to throw away! Then Craven wanted to go outside and I was glad. I put him out and finished what I was doing. I always look outside periodically to check on him and usually he is fine. He was fine this time its just that he found his bubbles and dumped the whole bottle on himself (very small bottle) and I had to change him again. UUUUUUHG!
I do love him anyway.

Wednesday

Wednesday we had a play date at the house. Thankfully the rain held out until today. Craven was pretty cranky all day for what ever reason. I hurt my foot pretty good. Otherwise it seemed to be a good play date.

Tuesday Grammy watched Craven while I went and had lunch with some friends. Thank you. When I went to pick him up Joyce showed me a place (she noticed when I dropped him off) behind his ear that had a scab, well until he picked it off anyway. I figured I would just keep an eye on it.

Wednesday morning when I was getting Craven dressed I noticed that the area was a little red and raised. I thought I'll keep a closer eye on it. We went in to see the EENT for Cravens 2 week recheck from surgery. All is well and he was released. Yeah! Later that day people for the play date started to arrive & I noticed that the area was red and filled with fluid. So, you can see that once again we were going to have to visit the doctor and not for his 2 year check up.
Wednesday night around midnight Craven woke up screaming (not a night terror b/c he knew us) for 30 minutes, terrible none the less. Well, I noticed he had a swollen area on the other side behind his ear. All kinds of things went through my head. He did not have a fever or any other symptom thankfully. To the doctor we went today and he has a staph infection. They prescribed a ointment to try before we put him on anything else. Which is good since Craven wont even look a a syringe now. When I went to pick up the script it was $60.00. Are you kidding me? Needless to say I let them keep there ointment. I called the doctor and left a message about trying a different one hopefully. No word yet.
When we left the doctor office we were going to go pick up Ella from the kennel and x-ray my foot (not broken just deeply bruised). We had a little time to kill before my friend was getting back to the clinic from lunch so I thought I'll take Craven to chifila and I can eat and he can play. When I went to get him out he was a sleep and had vomit all over him. Nasty milk vomit. Me who carriers everything had no extra clothes in the car and had a mismatched shirt and short in the diaper bag. At least I had that. I woke him up and changed him then we went in and he ate some and played and has not vomited since. Very strange. I know that my allergies are very bad (itchy, watery eyes, sinus and cough). Craven has similar issues right now to. Poor guy can't get a brake.

Sunday

Sunday was Mothers day and we also decided to celebrate Cravens birthday too. Randall said Craven wanted him to make me pancakes and bacon for Mothers day breakfast. That was my gift. LOL
Grammy & Papa, Aunt Carolyn and cousins Annabelle & Addison came over to celebrate. We had smoked ribs and chicken.
Carolyn, and the girls got Craven a couple of really cool books. Thank you.
Grammy and Papa got him a really cool Mac truck that holds hot wheels; a toolbox to hold cars/trucks; a cute pop up book and a few outfits. Thank you. The funny thing was when Craven started to open the gift that was clothes, as soon as he saw a peek of the clothes he tried to put the wrapping paper back. It was a true video moment that was missed. Annabelle finished opening them for him. It was truly priceless.
All in all I would say a good Mothers day and Birthday.

Birthday Boy!

Today is Cravens 2ND birthday. We went to Chick-flia and ate lunch and played. We will celebrate his birthday on Mothers day. I don't think we will make a habit of celebrating them together, but so far we have been.
Yesterday he did not have to have any pain meds until 3:00am this morning. Yeah! He has been sleeping better already, so we are crossing our fingers that once he is no longer waking from pain that he will sleep all night.

Fire Station

Play group went to the Fire station on Wednesday afternoon. Craven had a blast hanging out in the Fire truck and did not want to get out. The firemen were very nice and tolerant of being overrun by kids 4 and under. One fireman dressed up in full gear (tank and all). They do this to get the kids used to seeing them dressed so the kids wont be as afraid if they ever have to be rescued. The fireman got on all fours and slowly crawled around near the kids. The kids were encouraged to go up and touch the fireman. Some did others did not. Craven was fine with everything (siren included) , but he was not so fond of the fully dressed fireman. Maybe next time he wont mind.
I posted pictures at the bottom of blog.
We went to the park afterward until he started crying b/c his throat hurt. Still hates the meds.
Today Craven was coloring with the washable colors his Grammy brought him. He dropped them on the floor and I figured I would pick them up later. When I went to pick them up I only found one. I ask Randall if he picked them up and he had not. Well, Ella (our dog) ate them. Yes she like to eat colors. So just a warning for anyone with kids and dogs. They will eat colors and play dough!

ugh!

Last night was awful. Craven kept waking up in pain. So, it it not an option to stop his meds, but giving them is not much of an option either. I feel so bad for him b/c I don't think he has truly been pain free this whole time. He does not understand that the meds make him feel better. He is suppose to get 1 tsp every 4 hours and the doctor upped the dose to 2 tsp every 4 hours. Well, we decided to try 1.5 tsp first and go from there if he needed more. It helped until he got harder to give it to (meaning immediately upon upping the dose). By the time we hold him down and try to get him to take it he gets less than a fourth of a tsp at a time. I am going mad. Its next to impossible to give the meds by my self. Last night he was so bad that when I would try to give him meds he would only get a little. So he kept waking up. Finally this am I could not take it anymore and I got Randall to help me again and we got a little more down him this time. I try to manage his pain with Motrin in between but he will not take it. I physically can not hold all his limbs, head, mouth and give him the meds. He wears it I wear it and it makes me very stressed out.
Grammy called today and said she would come over to visit with him for a little while. Yeah! If I would have been more motivated I probably would have gone over there.
Well, I have to go and clean the Motrin off of me and him once again....

Surgery Day

I set my alarm for 4:30 to be ready to leave for the hospital by 5:20. Craven usually wakes up several times a night on a good night. He fell a sleep at 11:30 and I did not sleep well worried that he would wake up any minute and want his milk. Even though I got little sleep , luck was with me and he did not wake up until I got into the shower. Before I could get out of the shower he woke up and was wanting his milk "Milk , Milk, Please?" Once out of the shower I told him he could not have any milk and put him back into bed and turned on the TV. Every once in a while he would ask me again "Milk, Milk, and then Pleeease" and I would have to tell him no. Broke my heart. I am thankful that he did not have a break down about it though. Once Craven and I where dressed and everything was in the car off we went. He stayed awake up until we were put into a holding room. I got him changed into the gown (it had fishes on it) and then layed on the bed with him. He fell a sleep. I got out of the bed and put him in it and he still did not wake up. He stayed a sleep the whole time, the nurse told me later that he did not even wake up when they put him under. When they were taking him into surgery they asked me if he was giving anything b/c he was so out of it.
Surgery went very quick and he did great. The doctor said his tonsils were huge and wold have probably blocked his breathing if we would have waited until next year for surgery. They said they would get us when he wakes so he would not be afraid. They never came and got us. We were informed they were waiting on a room to be available. 2 hours. When I met them in the hall to go to the room, the nurse said he did great waking up, he just kept looking around, otherwise they would have gotten us. Randall left me to go to work while I was waiting on the room.
Once in the room they gave him oral Tylenol with codeine and IV morphine. Saying he hated getting the oral meds is an under statement. Oh he hated them. Anyway, after that he was ready to go bounce out of bed. When he got the oral pain meds he would scream and then I would have to hold him for 30 minutes while he cried and whimpered. Very sad:(
He could have the oral pain meds every 4 hours. Well they would wear off around 2 & 1/2 hours. I would sit holding him for 1 & 1/2 hours while he cried and whimpered. When he could have the meds, I would call the nurses station and sometime they not tell the nurse and it would be even longer before he got anything. I should have been better about it. I should have known that if they called the Doctor they could up the oral pain med dose. One time, I asked for pain meds and they said it was to early to give him his oral pain meds and I told them "Can't your give him something, he is in pain" , they said "oh yeah some morphine". That was around 10:30 that night. I thought all this time when the oral pain meds wore off he could have been getting other pain meds to help him. Why did I not know this!
He would drink a little water, tea and ate a little Popsicle, but they never offered him ice cream. Not sure why. I ordered it on his tray and he ate a little of that, plus he ate some of the chocolate cake I ordered for my self. This chocolate cake was awful and had chocolate syrup poured on top. Can I just say hospital food is not very good.
My friend Sarah came to see us around 7:00pm which was good b/c I had not left the room all day and couldn't b/c I had to stay with Craven. Randall had still not come back since that morning. When she got there I went to the car and got out the DVD's and suitcase. Let me tell you it took me 20 minutes to get to the car and back b/c I got lost leaving the room and then lost coming back to the room. Randall came about 7:30 and stayed until 9:30.
I was very tired and he only took a very short nap around 3:00 that afternoon. so I did not get any sleep. As the day wore on and we where heading to 10:00pm and later I kept falling a sleep. Very short naps (10 minutes at a time) Now you see, I was in bed with Craven b/c he wanted me to hold him a lot and there was room. He stayed a wake too. I fell apparently fell a sleep and woke up with blood all over me and Craven. Yes he pulled out his catheter. Thankfully he did not have to have another on put in. He finally fell a sleep at 4:00am or so and slept until 8:00am. The doctor came by and told us as long as he had wet diapers and been drinking he could go home. yeah! Well, they were no hurry to discharge us. I finally had to go and ask the nurse if she would make sure and give him another dose of meds before we leave. We got out around 11:45. Craven was wheeled out and he was very happy about leaving.
The hospital did not have a pharmacy and I was not going to go all the way to Smyrna to get his script filled, so I went to the nearest Walgreen's and had to wait 45 minutes.
Finally got home and around 1:00 and had a 1 & 1/2 hour wait before I could give Craven his next dose of meds. I had to hold him while he cried and whimpered the whole time. Then I had to fight him to give him the meds and then once again hold him b/c he was crying and whimpering from having the meds given. I felt so bad for him.
Since his meds kept wearing off early I called the doctor and they upped the dose, which worked much better, but the struggling to give the meds got worse. Randall and I would have to lay on him and put his arms behind his head, blow in his face, and force the meds in his mouth while he is kicking, screaming, fighting, spewing and not swallowing the meds. I mean we tried everything and yelling did not work either. I would be very stressed when we were done.
He still is in some pain, but not as much and hopefully it will be less tomorrow b/c we can't give meds. We have given up and if you go through what we have been you would be of the same mind.
I will add pictures later.

Hives again!

To back track a little. I remembered a few more words. Stuck was Stucka, Help was Helpa, Bird is still Burd, Airplane is still urplane.
Cravens hives are back again. Still not sure what is causing them. Thinking back, the very first time he broke out (which was last year) he had just finished an antibiotic. (can't remember what antibiotic though). Last time he had just finished an antibiotic the day before and he had strawberries three days before and this time he had just finished an antibiotic (same one) the day before and had strawberries the day before. Thing is I had not given him strawberries in between. Usually if it is food allergies it comes on quickly. He has been having allergy issues recently. Which would lead me to believe it is inhaled allergies. So,is it inhaled allergies and just a coincidence that he broke out in hives the same time he just finished an antibiotic and ate strawberries or is it one of the two or both? Not sure. I called the Doctor and he does not want to put him on a steroid just yet since Craven is due to have surgery on Thursday. I will call him again on Monday with a progress report. If they don't go away soon I don't know if they will do his surgery. Which means I will have to stress even longer. Ugh!

words

I have once again been slow to post. I wanted to post some of the words that Craven says funny before he stopped doing it, but once again too late and mostly because when I come to post them I forget what they are. Funny that. Anyway he would put an "a" at the end of a lot of things. Chip was Chippa. He would leave out letters too which would just depend on the word. Milk was Mik. As I think of more I will come back and repost.
Once Craven has surgery his voice and speech could change. He may not have his sweet little baby voice anymore.

Easter

Last Easter Craven and I went to Sunrise service at church and he was all over the place, this year we did not make it:( Craven had two Easter egg hunts this year and he had a blast at both. One was with his play group friends and one was at his Grammy's and Papas. The egg hunt at Grammy's Craven decided to leave his basket in one spot while he went around collecting eggs and bringing them back to the basket. It was too funny.
We went to Grammy's and Papa's for Easter, egg hunt and dinner. The Easter bunny brought his basket to Grammys and he loved it. Candy and cars, his favorite things. Uncle John (home safe:), Aunt Carolyn, cousins Annabelle and Addison were there too! Craven had a blast with Annabelle, but I'm not so sure she had the same feeling about it. Craven plays a little to ruff with Annabelle. I know sometimes its an accident, but other times he thinks he is playing. Poor Annabelle, Craven does love you I promise:)

Saturday

A pretty good day. I worked and Randall watched Craven. I always tell Randall that he can always take Craven somewhere when he is watching him, that he does not have to stay home. Well, he did this time. Where might you ask? The Beer Store, yes that's right The Beer Store. Teaching him early. Very cute and too funny. Of course when it came time to make the beer he was not going to let him help or show him how. Don't blame him there, it would be asking for trouble.
Then Aunt Carolyn called and found the fabric I need to make Craven a few more woobies (blankie). Thank goodness:) Thank you Aunt Carolyn! Craven will be most appreciative:) I posted pictures of Craven and his "Woobie". He likes to tuck it under him when he sleeps or throws it over his face. When he walks around with it he likes to throw it over his shoulder (like Linus) or he puts it up to his face and grabs whatever else he wants at the time (sippy cup, car) to carry. We say "I got my blankie and that's all I need, then I got my blankie and my sippy cup and that's all I need" He even walks all slow and pitiful like. Pretty funny. Now he just stared to use it to clean up messes. When he makes a mess and I see it and say "Oh Craven" he grabs it and uses it to clean up the mess. I usually stop and think I need to take a picture, but the mess always wins out.

specialist

Today we went to the specialist to see about having Cravens tonsils out. We where hoping to do it when he is a little older and next year would be much better for us where the insurance is concerned. Of course what ever the doctor tells us is what we will do.
The doctor asked what was going on and I said that Craven has had strep throat 4 times already. He asked when the last one was and I forgot it was last month and I said Jan or Feb. He immediately said he does not like do a tonsillectomy on a kid this young. He said we can do different things like a antibiotic program that can help ward off infection until he is older. Sounds good. Well, then the Doctor had me hold Craven in the chair while he looked in his throat and ears. Once he finally pried Cravens mouth open he immediately said we need to do surgery. His tonsil and nads are abnormally large. He could not believe how big they were. The doctor new that we wanted to try for January, but he said his recommendation is surgery now. I do feel that if he thought we could wait he would. So, not even 2 and to surgery we go. My poor little man:(
April 30Th.

Last Sunday

Once again I am a little behind on my entries. Saturday Randall ran his 26 miles and he had a little pressure bruise on his foot where the tongue of the shoe hit him. We got out the Asper cream and used it. (see where this is going?)
So, Sunday .....While Craven was still sleeping I went and got on the computer and Randall was watching TV. Craven woke up and was walking around with his woobie calling out "Whr r you". I thought he was calling for me since Randall was on the couch watching TV. Well no, he was calling for daddee. Randall went outside to work on the heater and I did not know this. He comes back in and finds Craven covered in Asper cream. Thats right it does burn just a tad. We put him straight into the tub. Not so smart since we did not think about wiping off all the cream first. Craven started screaming because now he was taking a hot asper cream bath. I pulled him out took him into our bathroom and soaped him up and rinsed. Man it still smells like that cream around here. Craven is no worse for wear though.

Update

I have posted several pictures of the hives he had this time. Sorry it took so long. They ended up being worse than last time so I took him in to the doctors. They put him on a steroid. He is doing much better. Still not sure what caused it, but it could possibly be inhaled. On thinking about it he is last case of hives was about the same time last year. We will keep tabs and see what happens next year. Hopefully he wont have them again anytime soon and never again would be nice.

Now for a little cuteness update. He will wake up or run around the house and say "Dadde? Dadde wr r you?" or "Dadde, I can't fine you!"
Now the pull my hair out not so cute, but paid good money to have the aggravation update! I got home from work and changed Craven b/c I new I was going to go out to the store. Before we left I was outside with Craven while he was playing in the yard. I was sitting on the swing with a sonic drink. I decided that I was ready to go to the store. I usually get everything in the car before I put Craven in, so I went in to the house to do that. I walked past the kitchen window and looked out to check on Craven. Well, he was playing in my drink with Ella. Yes, it was all over him and I had to change him before we could leave. Now you must remember that I had already put him in clean clothes. I spend more time changing him than anything else. LOL Truly though, it was my fought b/c I left the drink and when you have a thought like "you better get that" Well, you better get that. LOL

Hives again!

Craven had his first severe case of hives when he was about 11 months old. Not sure why. Something he ate, stress, inhaled, it could be anything.

Well, he has hives again. Once again, not sure why. They start as little red dots that turn into big spots that merge into huge whelps. They travel up and down the whole body. They started on his legs yesterday. Today his legs, arms and some of his torso are covered. A few spots are on his face too. By tomorrow his whole upper body should be covered as well. It will probably take a week before they are all gone. He is on Benadryl now and as long as his breathing is fine will not need to be on steroids.

I have not taken a picture of his hive yet, but here is a picture of the last time.

sick

On Tuesday night Aunt Carolyn and cousins Annabelle & Addison came over. I was working a consignment sale and Carolyn was going to shop it while Randall watched Craven and Annabelle. Well, before we left Craven tackled poor Annabelle and ended up bruising and bloodying her nose. Poor thing. I think she had fun anyway. Were working on the not hugging so hard bit.
On Thursday Craven woke up with a temp of 103.7 at 4:30am . I thought I better take him in to the doctors b/c the day before he did not want me to towel dry his hair. (he always ends up having an ear infection when he does not want me to towel dry his hair) I thought ear infection and/or strep. Well once again he had double ear infection and strep. He has had this 4 times. Anyway he will need to have his tonsils taken out. Not sure when yet. Randall wants to wait until next year, but that's a long time and another painful winter to go through. We will see.

Full Weekend

This weekend we had tons to do. Yesterday we went to Matthews birthday party at the Rainbow room. USA baby's store that has a back room with a indoor play jungle gym thingy that you can rent out and have as many kids as you want. Matthew turned 4 and was very sweet to Craven. When juices were passed out he noticed Craven had not gotten one yet and he gave him his unopened one. Lisa he gets brownie points for that. LOL Craven had a blast!
Today we went to Presley's baptism. Craven and (girlfriend) Allie played in the nursery and when I picked them up I was told they were very good. When we left the nursery I told them to "hold hands and don't let go" and they held hands all the way back to the chapel. Very cute.
While waiting for lunch...
Allie was feeding m & m's to Craven and kissing him. She loves to hug, kiss and feed him, but (boy that he is) he never seems to mind. It's very cute and too funny. Look out Sarah and Justin they just might marry one day:)

Just a note

Sorry I have not updated lately, but at least I have changed the Christmas music. LOL
Craven is getting over a double ear infection and a cough. He's a trouper cause he does not let you know very often that he is sick.
He is so cute. He looks at me and I think I am looking at Randall cause Cravens eyes are almond shape just like his and he has his long eye lashes too. Some of the cute things he does....
He bounces around on his toes all day long. He laughs and It really is contagious. He'll push a chair up where his corner of snack are on the counter and ask "Please" for something. Then he will push the chair back before he eats his snack. He'll get in bed and pull the cover up and then pat the bed for me to sit with him. If he's watching TV and I sit beside him he will reach up and hug me.
Just a few things out of sooo many to give you a little update:)

Kurts Cabin

Another back issue.....

Uncle Kurt, Aunt Sharon and cousins Nathan & Caroline invited us up to their cabin the weekend before Thanksgiving. The cabin is in Pigeon Forge, 5 minutes away from the main strip, but it still seems to be away from everything. If you go you will know what I mean. It is beautiful and the view is awesome. Did not shop, but I know shopping is great too. I will post a link as soon as I get one.

We had a blast and I think everyone else did to. Having a 18 month old come and visit can be trying. Craven had a blast climbing up/down and on everything.
He also went on his first official big hike. The chimneys. Very steep 2 mile hike. Poor Randall. It had snowed so the trail (already hard) became pretty dangerous. We did not quiet get to the top, but I say everyone did a marvelous job under the circumstances.
We relaxed in the cabin the rest of the time. ;=o)

Using the Potty

OK I am back tracking now. Some of you know this and some of you don't know. Craven can pee, pee on the potty!

Let me fill you in first.

I had a friend who is a preschool teacher tell me that if he shows any interest (watching you, sitting on, playing around)in using the potty to put him on it. Craven was always interested in the potty especially when we used it. I went to the store and bought a potty seat. I kept it for a couple of months (being lazy really) before I even bothered to put him on it. Around 13 months Craven started peeing on the floor. I would get him out of the tub and dry him off, go get his diaper, come back and he would have peed on the floor or I would catch him in mid stream and say "Craven" and he would stop. I still did nothing at that time (lazy again). Then Craven started taking off his pants and diaper and peeing. Thankfully he only did it like twice before I caught him taking off his diaper and I told him "lets go use the potty" . I took him in and sat him down. He peed and you could actually tell he was trying. So, (still being lazy) I decided that when he pulled his diaper off I would sit him on the potty. He would pee 95% of the time. Then I decided (on days that I could) I would let him run around with no diaper on and keep reminding him to "go to the potty if you have to pee". He would do really well. It's when I did not keep reminding him that he would have accidents. Although, one day I had taken his diaper off and was reading to him while he was rolling around on the floor playing with his toys. He jumped up real quickly and ran into the bathroom to pee. He could not get on the potty seat by him self b/c it would move, so I helped him. Now, he did not pee, but I thought it was really great that he decided to try on his own. Lately I have been very lazy and not even done the no diaper thing for a while (holidays is my excuse).

Well, Its now a new year and I think I will really start trying to potty train. He will be 20 months in a week, so I figure around the middle of the month will do. Maybe he will be done by the time he is two. One can always hope:o)
Funny thing is ...Craven is standing in the doorway complely naked as I finish up typing. What will I find?*#

This is a picture of Allie (Cravens girlfriend) using the potty while Craven sits in front giving moral support. Very cute! Sorry Allie...
